Poised to become one of the emerging faces of diversity in fashion, this New York-based Indian model’s story is one of faith, perseverance, and a clear belief in trusting one’s instincts.

Pooja Mor is taking the international modeling world by storm; she has already walked for reputed brands like Calvin Klein, Alexander McQueen, Tory Burch, Stella McCartney, Givenchy, Roberto Cavalli, and others. But this 25-year-old super model is much more than just another gorgeous-looking lady from the fashion industry

Like any other Indian girl, Mor was focused on completing her computer engineering—and modeling was never a part of her master plan. Her career in modeling kickstarted when she was organizing a pageant and one of her friends submitted her name as a joke.

To her great surprise, Mor was declared as the winner of the event, “Clean & Clear Ahmedabad Times Fresh Face,” in 2012.

After her studies, Mor decided to move to New Delhi to try fashion modeling. A few stints at the Fashion Week in New Delhi and Mumbai gave her a taste of things to come. International opportunities came knocking at the door when a friend of hers, represented by Elite NYC, posted a picture of her on Instagram.

Elite New York signed her up in 2015, and she soon found herself modeling for the Louis Vuitton Resort collection in Palm Springs. In 2016, she relocated to New York City to explore further opportunities.

Everybody thinks that the life of a model is glamorous. But if one takes a sneak peek into their lives, one will discover that there is more to it than champagne and the yachts.

Mor reveals that moving to new environments and countries will displace you from your comfort zone. Adjusting to different cultures, societies, and cuisines is difficult even if you’ve been doing it for years. Modeling brings numerous physical and mental challenges and Mor was in search of something that would keep her grounded.

Almost three years ago, the budding super-model was introduced to Falun Dafa, a meditation practice centered around the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. It involves a set of meditation exercises that strengthen the body, and moral teachings that focuses to enrich the mind with goodness and positivity.

In an interview with The Epoch Times, Mor shared that every time she does Falun Dafa exercises, she feels connected with herself.

“I always keep some time for myself [in the morning], doing Dafa exercises,” Mor told The Epoch Times. “That time is my time that connects me to myself—to look within. Being born Indian I always did meditation—yoga and meditation, you just do since you’re a kid. My family is so spiritual. That makes me look at life differently.”

Mor also reveals that practicing Falun Dafa has made her a better person and is her source for inspiration. Previously, in a trying situation, she used to always find faults with others and blamed them if anything went wrong. But now, she acknowledges her faults first and reflects on how she can improve herself to turn the situation over.

Talking to the Epoch Times, she said: “What I’ve seen here, is how people are always stressed about what is going to happen. I think if you can just let go of that, and just follow your path, it’s easier. So if you can really live every second, you will really feel the beauty of life on a much deeper level.”

“Follow your destiny and be grounded in yourself,” she added.

Falun Dafa (also known as Falun Gong) is a self-improvement meditation system based on the universal principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Tolerance. It was introduced to the public by Mr. Li Hongzhi in 1992 in China. It is currently practiced by over a 100 million people in 114 countries. But this peaceful mediation system is being brutally persecuted in China since 1999. For more info, please visit: www.FalunDafa.org and www.FalunInfo.org.
