🧘‍♀️ LONG POST ALERT 🧘‍♀️

As an Australian woman who has been practicing Falun Gong for over 10 years now, I was shocked and distressed to see the recent attack that the ABC has made on us based on the accounts of three selected testimonials.📜

(1: The daughter whose 75 year old mother passed away and blames it on Falun Gong. 2: A progressive man who used to practice Falun Gong and is now dissatisfied and ashamed of his former beliefs. 3: The child of an apparently overbearing Chinese immigrant mother who pushes her Falun Gong beliefs on her child.)

As someone who has read every teaching in our practice numerous times, I can confidently say that this “report” has (at best) taken things out of context, and (at worst) completely misrepresented us and mislead the public to create a false panic. 😱

What I find most appalling, is that if this kind of defamation was projected towards any other major faith group, whether they be Christians, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, Jews, etc, it would have NEVER been allowed to be aired on Australian TV. Yet it was somehow deemed appropriate to publish this biased report on one of the most persecuted minority faith groups in modern day history! 🤷‍♀️

Falun Gong practitioners in China are subject to brutal persecution at the hands of the Chinese Communist Party, along with the Christians, Uyghurs, Tibetans, and basically anyone who chooses to place there faith above “belief in the communist party”. 🧘‍♀️⛪🕌🛕

A lot of my Chinese friends who practice Falun Gong are refugees who fled China due to the persecution they faced at the hands of the Communist Party in China. 🇨🇳

I have heard heartening first hand accounts from my Chinese friends who so kindly took me in when I first moved to Sydney about how they were brutalized in Chinese labor camps, and not just physically tortured, but psychologically tortured by threats being made to their families and loved ones if they didn’t “recant their beliefs” and the fact that if they did “recant” they would then be required to inflict the same torture on their fellow believers. It’s kind of a damned if you do, damned if you don’t situation. Do you choose the death of your physical body through being tortured? Or do you choose the slow death of your soul by going against your conscience and being forced to inflict the same suffering on your fellow believers?🩸⚖☭

I lived with a lady when I first moved to Sydney who fled China with a handful of her belongings in a plastic shopping bag. She was among the minority. One of the very lucky ones who managed to make it out of China alive. She was a wealthy business woman in China, and as a refugee in Australia she studied hard to become a dental assistant, but was unable to find work due to her limited proficiency in English, and now lives a humble and frugal life with her husband who stacks shelves for a l living. 👫🙏

The interesting thing is that the ABC has never told the Falun Gong story, has never bothered to share about the persecution that we face in China, nor even bothered to ask a single Falun Gong practitioner how we have benefited from the practice in order to use this information in their “report” 🤔💭

In fact, this is not a surprise, as it is obvious that the agenda of this “report” was decided long before it was started. It was just a matter of them finding the right pieces to serve their agenda. ✅

After experiencing pressure from the community about their recent slanted “report”, the ABC has since published a piece by a journalist and lecturer who rationally address the claims made in the ABC’s slandering report, which has been placed in their “opinions” section. 👇 (link below)
